How are insurers supporting unoccupied premises where businesses are temporarily closed or staff are working from home?
Most insurers are being flexible around the unoccupancy conditions of a policy during the Covid-19 crisis and have waived the requirement for the policyholder to notify the insurer of the unoccupancy for anything up to 90 days.
However it is expected that the policyholder will have done everything within their power to mitigate risk and this should involve compliance with the insurer's minimum standards of security, which can be found within your policy documentation.
If there are any such requirements that you are unable or unlikely to be able to comply with, such as inspections, manned security please let us know as soon as possible so that we can liaise with your insurers to find a suitable alternative solution.
If you are in any doubt about your policy please contact us in the usual way - your telephone call will be directed to our teams at home.
